In April 2010, two people met at a fundraiser held at a suburban Chicago Mexican restaurant. One of them, the host of the event, was raising money for her next adventure in life. The other, a guest brought by mutual friends. Their first encounter: "Can I bring you some more chips and salsa?" and, if you know him at all, of course the answer was "yes!".
Brad and Emily started dating soon after and the rest is history. Emily moved to the Dominican Republic to work with Young Life; Brad continued his teaching and coaching career at Yorkville High School. After two years of long distance dating, Brad moved to the DR to teach at Doulos Discovery School, proposed to Em, and the two of them got married on July 6, 2013.
Brad:
known for being a bit on the silly side. and his awesome dance moves.
loves ice cream, running, and combining words together (such as Dominican and Holehan to create "Dominihan").
Emily:
loves coffee, mountains, and maps (globes too).
not known for her coordination or her rice-making abilities.
Both:
love the Chicago Blackhawks, being outside, craft beer, and a good board game with great friends.
